Runnymede Library was organized on 15 October 1909, and a library started to be built on Welland Avenue, York Township, in 1910.  The Toronto Star reported on 19 April 1918 (page 13), "The Runnymede Public Library building is to be lifted bodily from its present location and deposited on a new site at the south-west corner of Willard and Montye Avenues."  In later years, the library was converted to a private dwelling and finally demolished in 1947.
