Original Toronto Star caption: $2.50 paid for a day's parking yesterday in the Toronto Parking Authority's underground garage at City Hall; but today it's 25 cents for each half hour. The $2.50 maximum fee was eliminated in an attempt to discourage long-time parking in the city core; but the authority says it will consider lowering the rates if private parking lot operators raise their rates; too. One of the authority's commissioners; John Sherk; says it isn't trying to create an inflationary spiral.
