Original Toronto Star caption: Syl Brothers works on top of the controversial police communications tower in Sir Winston Churchill park; on Spadina Rd. south of St. Clair Ave. The tower is now 305 feet tall; it should be finished; at 340 feet; next week. The tower is one of six planned for a new police communications network costing $5 million. The site was approved in February; over the protests of residents of the area; and a motion to find a new site for it was defeated by Toronto Council as late as July.
