Original Toronto Star caption: King Edward's mount arrives. Workmen start uncrating horse section of the 3-ton equestrian statue of King Edward VII; for mounting on a concrete base in Queen's Park today. Other crates include the horse's head and the figure of the King. The statue was purchased in India and presented as a gift to the city by insurance executive Harry Jackman. City has expected to pay $25;000 to build the base; but Parks Commissioner Ivan Forrest said his department had been able to do it for only $13;000. Statue will be unveiled on May 24; birthday of King Edward's mother; Queen Victoria.
