Original Toronto Star caption: On borrowed time? The Toronto stockyards face an uncertain future with the announced closing of the Canada Packers slaughterhouse in December. About 950 Jobs will be lost. It's just the latest and largest shutdown in Toronto's meat-packing area at St. Clair Ave. W. and Keele St. Swift Candian Co. closed in 1981. Two other plants have also shut down.
