Original Toronto Star caption: With pneumatic spades roaring; miners chisel out the twin 1;960-foot-long tunnels for the Spadina rapid transit line at rate of 12 feet a day. Scheduled for completion late in 1977; the 6.17-mile; $155 million line will stretch from just north of Wilson Ave. to the Bloor-Danforth subway's St. George station. It was started in spring of 1974. Miners work like hell; said TTC official. It's go; go; go all the time. The tunnels are nearly 100 feet deep.
