Original Toronto Star caption: Home on the range -- soon. Canadian Animal Domain at Metro Zoo is scheduled to open July 1 and will include this herd of 30 bison. They're being kept in a field behind zoo director Philip Oglivie's across the road from the zoo because it is short of space. The Canadian section covers 410 acres in the horseshoe-shaped Rouge River valley. It will be a 3 mile trip on zoo train to see the wolf packs; deer; bears and wildfowl.
