Original Toronto Star caption: The Mission of San Xavier Del Bac near Tucson; Ariz.; dates back to 1692 when a wandering Spanish priest; Father Eusebio Francisco Kino; travelled north from Mexico at the invitation of the Sobaipuri Indians. It still serves the native peoples; though its worshippers are now Papago Indians. Called the White Dove of the Desert; the mission is only one of hundreds of relics that tell the story of the years when the Spanish were moving into Indian lands.
