Original Toronto Star caption: The last laugh: Happiness is keeping the World Hockey Association out of your own back yard, at least for Harold Ballard. The Maple Leaf owner led the movement among National Hockey League owners to close down a deal under which six WHA teams would have joined the NHL. Ballard claims he had good reasons for keeping out the WHA. He says the league raided Marlies for Mark Napier and the Howe boys and took away Leaf goaltender Bernie Parent.
