Original Toronto Star caption: Acting as mediator in a neighborhood dispute, York Alderman Gayle Christie, centre, reasons with residents Jim and Alice Lindsay, left, and William and Margaret Smith. Christie, a candidate for mayor in the Nov. 13 election, also spoke to owners of a factory that the residents charged was a noise and dust nuisance, and was able to calm both sides. I don't believe confrontation solves anything, said Mrs. Christie. Her style is serving people face to face rather than from within borough offices.
