Original Toronto Star caption: A tree to defy expressways. A small white spruce was planted yesterday in a park on Old Weston Rd. north of St. Clair Ave. W. which is on one of the routes proposed for an extension of Highway 400. The planting, a protest by residents of the area against the proposed expressway, was done by (from left) Bob Pullock, Dr.Jan Dukszta, the New Democratic Party candidate in Parkdale, and Dr. Shelly Mintz, co-chairman of the residents' coalition.
