Original Toronto Star caption: It was 100 years ago yesterday that Irish immigrant Timothy Eaton bought a failing dry goods store on site now occupied by Simpsons. He then did two things unheard of in 1869: He dealt only in cash and he took back anything that didn't please. Celebrating firm's centenary yesterday, great-grandson's Fredrik Eaton, left, and John Craig Eaton, with T. Eaton chairman between them, and model Heather Wright, blow out 100 candles on a four-tiered birthday cake.
