A posed informal group shot of the Frederic Charles Denison family: He sits at left in a wooden chair, beside a small boy in a sailor suit. Behind the boy stands an older boy in a uniform. At the man's feet, a boy sits on the stairs. He is wearing a suit and holding a bowler hat on his knee, gazing out of frame to the left. Next to him sits an older girl in a white dress, a smaller boy in a suit and tie. Behind the smaller boy is another even smaller boy, also in a sailor suit, beside whom sits a young girl, also in white. In the back row stands a young man in uniform. To his left, an elderly woman in a black dress holds a cane while sitting in an ornate wooden chair. A middle-aged woman sits next to her, in the centre of the group, also in a chair. Both wear dark colours. Framing the second woman on either side are two women dressed as maids, with dark clothes, white aprons and white caps.
