Original Toronto Star caption: Police sharpshooter speaks into two-way radio as he watches bank at Yonge and King Sts. where a man armed with shotgun holds 11 hostages. The alarm sounded shortly before noon and police quickly had area sealed off and building ringed with marksmen. Police contacted man by telephone and pleaded with him to release hostages. The gunman identified himself as a 38-year-old Vancouver seaman.
