Original Toronto Star caption: Fatally shot on Manning Ave; today was an unidentified man after; police say; he opened fire on two officers after they stopped his car for making an illegal left-hand turn at Bloor St. Picture shows police at the death scene with the dead man's nickel-plated revolver lying in the left foreground. The shooting occured when the man fled on foot across Bloor St. and south on Manning. Fatal shot was fired by Constable Allan Forster. The car had been stolen in Ottawa area.
