Original Toronto Star caption: Saved from the gallows when the Ontario appeal court quashed a murder conviction against him; Harold Ferguson; 36; was embraced by his wife when he returned to his modest home in Hamilton. Ferguson was sentenced to hang Dec. 14 for the slaying of Abraham Rosenberg. The court's decision; which stated the accused man had not received a fair trial; marked the second time in this province that a murder conviction was quashed without a new trial being ordered.
