Original Toronto Star caption: The Queen and Prince Philip ride up University Ave. from the Royal York Hotel to Queen's Park in the province's landau with the Ontario coat of arms on the door and two members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; in their scarlet dress tunics; mounted behind. Their escort was the silver-helmeted Governor-General?s Horse Guards; and police lined both sides of the street; stationed five feet apart. Ten thousand persons were outside the Legislature when the royal party arrived and the Queen spoke with as many of them as possible during her visit. After the provincial cabinet and members of the Legislature were introduced to the Queen; she met six persons who had received new citizenship awards from the province.
