Jockey Avelino Gomez, 43, leading rider in Canadian racing six times, gets an ovation as he parades past the fans on his way to ride Miguel, which finished third at Greenwood yesterday. Gomez retired in 1969, made an unsuccessful comeback in 1970 and now is trying again.
