Original Toronto Star caption: Top Jockey Avelino Gomez (left) and brother Mickey embrace their mother, Jesusa Gomez, 79, who arrived last night from Cuba by way of Spain for her first meeting with ''El Perfecto'' in 12 years. ''I never thought I'd see her alive again,'' Gomez said. His father died last month in Havana, and the jockey feared she couldn't survive on meagre Cuban rations. ''Now she's here to stay,'' he said happily.
