Original Toronto Star caption: Twenty years ago, Blind River's population doubled and housing could not keep pace with the incoming families. But the closing of the town's lumber mills in the late '60s has made it a victim of the boom-and-bust syndrome in the North. Colleen MacDonald and Helen Picard point to the increased population figure the uranium rush has produced at Blind River. At the right is one of the temporary trailer, tent and hut hamlets which have sprung up around Blind River. Photos by Howard Anderson.
