Original Toronto Star caption: Bowmanville, Aug. 14 - A gymnasium, containing one of the finest swimming pools in Canada, is part of the equipment of the Ontario Training School for Boys at Bowmanville, which may be taken over for use in the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. There is no other institution in the province comparable, and no other place where the training of the 250 delinquent youths it houses could be carried on, teachers said. The property is 350 acres of excellent farm land. Each group of boys is supervised by a staff ''father'' and ''mother.'' The school first consisted of two cottage dormitories, a central kitchen and dining hall, educational and industrial plant. A hospital and other dormitories have been added. The Rotary Club of Canada gave $5,000 at its inception in 1924 and other service clubs have since followed suit. Dr. G. Elmore Reaman of the Ontario Agricultural college, was first superintendent. A.R. Virgin is now in charge.
