Original Toronto Star caption: Thumbs up, guys!: Indy speedsters Fabrizio Barbazza (12), Randy Lewis (24), Geoff Brabham (15) and the rest of the pack get some encouragement as they travel the pace lap before yesterday's event on the lakefront. Lewis managed a ninth-place showing while Barbazza was 11th. But Brabham didn't fare so well asteammate Jeff MacPherson his his car on this same lap and put him out of the competition. MacPherson only managed one trip around the 2.78-km road track himself.
