Original Toronto Star caption: Dragon heads mounted on prows got the spirit - if not the canoes - moving in the first annual Dragon Boat Races yestedday in Haida Basin at Ontario Place. This is where the Haida, a World War II destroyer is berthed permanently. About 5,000 spectators watched the converted voyageur canoes and their amateurs crews tackle the course. Strokes are far from synchronized as the eventual leaders - the Big MacCrew - forge ahead of the Strokers, an all-girl crew.
