Original Toronto Star caption: A last farewell was said to Vincent Massey, first native born governor-general, as his coffin was lowered into the frozen ground at Port Hope, his family home. In centre group, with members of the family, are Governor-General and Mrs. Roland Michener. The burial service was private, with only townspeople and close friends attending, in contrast to the pomp of the funeral service yesterday in Ottawa.
