Original Toronto Star caption: A plaque honoring Col. R. S. (Sam) McLaughlin, who turned his father's carriage business into multi-billion-dollar General Motors, was unveiled by Lieut.-Gov. Pauline McGibbon (right) yesterday at Parkwood, his 12-acre estate in Oshawa. The ceremony was attended by his daughters, Mrs. Clarence Churchill Mann (left) and Mrs. John B. Pangman. McLaughlin left the estate to Oshawa General Hospital.
