Original Toronto Star caption: Ed Mirvish. The Honest One. I had jst been married - it was almost 50 years ago - and I cashed in for $214 my wife's insurance policy to open a store. It was on the site of the present store on Bloor St. and the rent was $55 a month. As it happened, it worked out. We were selling ladies' sportswear and we called it the Sport Bar. I would run to Spadina to pick up the stuff and we'd sell it. I'm glad it worked out or my wife would have been nagging me for the last 47 years.
