Original Toronto Star caption: Back home after conquering the English Channel, Scarborough swimmer Cindy Nicholas is welcomed at Toronto International Airport by borough Mayor Paul Cosgrove with her mother, Vicky Nicholas, behind them. Fewer than 100 persons were on hand when 17-year-old Cindy arrived and the speeches of congratulations were brief. Then she went home. fed and examined her fish, and went out shopping.
