Original Toronto Star caption: Just pretend I'm not here'. Tom McDonald finds you can do more with some works of art than look at them. Seeking a spot to enjoy lunch yesterday, he picked sculptor Lea Vivot's Secret Bench as it was about to be loaded on a truck on Yonge St. The bronze was shipped to New York City, where it will adorn the Trump Tower. Another Vivot work, Endless Bench, is at the Hospital for Sick Children.

Yea. To Principal John Plumpton of Jane Junior High School in North York for trying to get more students to read books. Twice a week staff and students are given 50 minutes of the day just to read - anything they like. Some of them may discover that reading is a joy, even though it's a little more work than watching a TV scree. It's a nice idea.

Doreen MacDonald picked up a toaster from a pile of battered appliances in the Qeen St. E. Soup-to-nuts junk store run by Jack Himself Cohen. One dollar. Himself said. Does it work? Doreen asked. I don't know. Why don't you plug it in and find out? All I do is sell as is. You won't plug it in? No. Doreen paid the $1 and once again proved Himself's credo: I don't polish anything. I learned my lesson when I polished the $25 special finish off a candelabra early in business. Since then I sell everything just as it is. [Incomplete]
