Original Toronto Star caption: It's not a scene from a Wagnerian opera. It's Etobicoke Alderman Helen Wursta yesterday in her version of what everyone should wear at CNE politicians' bathtub race. But fate pulled plug -- her tub crashed and conked out twice at start.

Frank Crane: The opera singer turned antique dealer was tired of the urban jungle so he retreated into the woods with his wife, Verena, and built himself a log cabin. And you can see the cabin Frank built! It's cathedral sized. Just the thing for housing such treasures as the Chinese tomb figure from the T'ang period (618 to 906 A.D.) which he is holding. These things are on trust, he says.

James D. Robinson III, chairman of New York based American Express Co., pictured at the Toronto Stock Exchange where his company's shares were listed for the first time yesterday. The firm is currently facing a challenge to its domination of the travellers' cheque market from Visa and Master Charge, whose credit cards dominate the international bank card scene. Master Charge hopes to be in the business by next May and Visa will make a decision shortly.

Here is a typical scene of the famed barnyard clinic at Williamburg at the height of its popularity. He charged $1 a day for treatment and was to have given as many as 800 treatments in a single day.
