Original Toronto Star caption: Island confrontation: York County Acting Sheriff Joseph Bremner; with his back to the camera; brought 252 letters of notice on eviction to the Island community yesterday. Confronted by about 300 residents; he discussed the situation with Elizabeth Amer of the residents' association and agreed to hold off serving them for another 24 hours. They gained another week in court today.
