Original Toronto Star caption: Curt Reis. Halifax - Neptune Theatre, the only professional repertory company in Eastern Canada, has opened its fourth season auspiciously. Directed by Curt Reis, a cast of 20 give compelling reality to Arthur Miller's play of the Salem witch trials, The Crucible. A skein of rugged beams and pillars designed by Les Lawrence converts the stage into a convincing physical picture of the period. The players, authentically dressed by Suzanne Mess in sombre costumes, evoke the atmosphere of a society in the grip of a powerful and pervasive dementia.
