Original Toronto Star caption: An expert takes a close look. Scrapper, a 20-week-old beaver, takes sniff at official symbol of 1976 Olympics at official uneveiling attended by president and commissioner-general Roger Rousseau (left) at Royal York Hotel yesterday. Scrapper is held by Lloyd Cook of the Ontario Trappers Association who found him after a flood near his Barrie home.

Anchor aground: An old anchor looms in the foreground and mist rises off the water as Toronto harbor gets an early foretaste of the quiet days of winter. The harbor was busier this year than last; but things slow down to a crawl when winter really takes hold and the St. Lawrence Seaway and Welland Canal close for the season. Shipping usually stops at the end of December.

A question of balance. Technician Mary Yap takes to the tilting chair of balance expert Dr. Walter Johnson yesterday at St. Michael's Hospital. The otolith chair helps Johnson detect inner ear and balance problems. it was paid for by the Atkinson Foundation, which gave a $30,000 grant to St. Mikes to fund such research.
