Treating the trauma: Dr. James Murray, head of Sunnybrook Medical Centre's hand unit straps a finger manipluator onto the palm of 23-year-old John Boothby of Orilla. Boothby's right hand was smashed in an car accident in June, 1982. There were 23 different pieces of bone. Says Murray: . . . the hand is such an important part of the body, not just physically but aesthetically.
