Notes

On February 14th, 1890, two servants dropped a tray of lit kerosene lamps on a staircase in University College. This accident resulted in a huge fire that engulfed the eastern half of the building in flames. Sadly, this included the library and a devastating loss of 33,000 volumes. This bookplate is from one of the books that was donated in the efforts to rebuild the library and collections.
