The British North American colonies; letters to the Right Hon. E.G.S. Stanley, M.P., upon the existing treaties with France and America as regards their ''rights of fishery'' upon the coasts of Nova Scotia, Labrador and Newfoundland, the violations of these treaties by the subjects of both powers and their effect upon the commerce equally of the mother country and the colonies, with a general view of the colonial policy, shewing that the British dependencies are now prepared to pay the expenses of their local governments, that the military expenditure, if chargeable to them, is fully counter-balanced by the commercial advantages derived from them, and that their preservation as integral parts of the empire is essential to the commercial prosperity and political supremacy of the British nation.
