Lot 19, Con. 1 East. Yonge St. and Church Ave. View of Willowdale United Church (formerly Willowdale Methodist Episcopal Church) from Yonge Street. Built in 1856 on land donated by Jacob Cummer, replacing a small log building constructed in 1834. The church?s spire, built by Samuel Cummer, was blown down in the 1920s and was not rebuilt. In 1931 Yonge St. was widened and sections of both the church and graveyard were removed. Some chose to have their ancestors disinterred and moved to other cemeteries. In 1954 the congregation moved to a new, larger building on Kenneth Ave. The old church was sold to the Seventh Day Adventists and used by them for services until 1956, when it was torn down, leaving the cemetery, which remains and is currently known as Cummer Burial Ground.
