Lack of water pressure hampered firemen until they ran hoses about a quarter of a mile to the scene at the National Rubber Co.; on Dundas St. W. at Lansdowne Ave. More than a thousand people surrounded the scene; including shoppers from a nearby supermarket; the closest building to the scrapyard.
