Original Toronto Star caption: Oil tanker blazes in Downtown Toronto. Black; oily smoke billowed hundreds of feet into air as more than 70 firefighters battled about an hour this morning before bringing blaze under control after an oil tanker overturned and burst into flames at Cherry and Mill Sts. on Metro's lakeshore. Fire started after tanker and a tractor-trailer truck loaded with canned tomatoes collided. A hydro pole was knocked down and sparked fire as oil spilled into streets. Flaming oil flowed under at least four cars parked nearby and into storm drains; firefighters had to dodge exploding manhole covers. Truck driver Thomas Gouther; 44; of Etobicoke; is in hospital with back and hand burns.
