A flatbed trailer with 192 tires lugs a 650-tonne (590-ton) reactor core yesterday to the Number 2 reactor building at the $10.9 billion Darlington Nuclear Generation Station. Tomorrow, the giant steel core will be slipped on to steel rails and into the building. When it is fired up in 1988, it will produce 935,000 kilwatts, or enough to power a quarter of Metro.
