"2780-YOUNG, THOMAS-City Engineer, Toronto, 1840-2-An Englishman by birth. Came to Canada in 1836 and engaged in his profession as architect and surveyor, locating on Hospital (Richmond) street. The earliest pictures of King street, Toronto (Nos. 262 and 3262), in this collection, and that of the Houses of Parliament, Front street west, 1835 (No. 1060), were done by him. Mr. Young, who was the first City Engineer of Toronto. was succeeded by Mr. John G. Howard. Water color from original drawing by Mr. Edward Copping, for forty years Inspector of Buildings, Toronto. Size 3 x 4. Head and shoulders."
