Original Toronto Star caption: Drilling for bed rock. Giant boring machine; centre; is being used to ensure firm foundation at this building site at Bay and Queen Streets across from the new Citry Hall. The machine's drill twists into the earth until it reaches bed rock. Then a steel caisson is lowered in the hole and filled with concrete and steel. A 33-storey office building and a single-storey pavilion-like Toronto-Dominion Bank branch will rise on the site.
