Thousands came in wheel chairs to be relieved of suffering. The fame of Dr. Locke's work spread all over the world, and patients came from everywhere. Here is a typical scene of the famed barnyard clinic at Williamburg at the height of its popularity. He charged $1 a day for treatment and was to have given as many as 800 treatments in a single day.

Robert Stephens cosults with a patient in his office. During one weekend, Dr. Stephens talked by phone with 40 patients, was six in his office, visited eight at home and three in hospital, all at about a $3 hourly rate. Not rapacious for overtime work, he says.
