Original Toronto Star caption: A 100-year-old building on Port Hope's busy main street was wrecked yesterday when an explosion sent the roof and piles of bricks crashing down on three gas company employees replacing main in the street. One of the workers was killed; the others were injured. The blast shattered windows in houses nearby; rocked the street and sent up a thick cloud of dust that hovered over the street.
