Original Toronto Star caption: High farm labor costs have set a new trend in harvesting. Picking your own produce is hot; back-breaking work but it's worthwhile to cost-concious consumers who know exactly what they're paying for because they select the quality of fruit and vegatables that fill their baskets. Mrs. Lynne Kjollesdal; above; will pay for this tray of lush raspberries when she leaves the field. There are more than 70 pick-your-own farms operating in Ontario. Many of them have pony rides and picnic areas so families can enjoy their day out.
