Original Toronto Star caption: Those of us who have looked carefully at the Ontario plan and that of Century City feel there is really no contest; and that the development intended for the Stouffville-Uxbridge area about 25 miles northeast of the Metro boundary should be ordered abandoned immediately. The Design for Development plan calls for the area to be retained as farmland and developed as conservation and recreational land. It appears that the Ontario government does not recognize the obvious discrepancies between its own plan and that of Century City. Darcy McKeough; one of the architects of Design for Development while minister of municipal affairs; has said that the government plan does not necessarily rule out Century City. As a result of this indecision; several partisan groups have been organized. [Incomplete]
