Original Toronto Star caption: Speeds up to 20 miles an hour can be achieved by an electric- powered skateboard invented by 22-year-old David Ridge of Seventh St. He actually calls it a Transporter. It weighs 40 pounds; can run up to 90 minutes between charges; and has skateboard wheels and suspension. The plastic case and aluminum frame holds motor and batteries. A friend at University of Toronto designed the electronic throttle controls.
