Original Toronto Star caption: Pumping oil: This rig at Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories is pumping oil that; for the first time ever; is flowing through a pipeline from Canada's frontiers. The oil field is located beneath the mighty MacKenzie River and ownership is shared by Imperial Oil Ltd. and Canadian taxpayers. The pipeline; which completes a line half way to Canada's Arctic; can carry $1 million worth of oil a day.
