Original Toronto Star caption: Children lining balcony of house; centre; watch happily as this huge bear pulls beard of an equally large elf on one of the many floats in the Santa Claus parade today. Crowds began lining streets two hours before parade began at 8.30. Some of the 25 floats that preceded Santa were as long as 60 feet. More than 1;000 children and students marched and 14 military and high school bands played.
