Original Toronto Star caption: High levels of lead were found in the bodies of five of 29 residents on Niagara St. in downtown Toronto; and a nearby plant has been ordered not to resume its battery-crushing operation after being linked to lead poisoning. Lead poisoning affects the nervous system of the brain; causing stupor and coma. It can also destroy life-supporting red cells. The levels were found to be below danger line.
