Original Toronto Star caption: Three of five London prisoners caught; With the aid of Frank Martron; so-called Virginia bad man; Edward Harlton; alleged slayer of a motorcycle policeman; made his third escape from custody on Sunday when with Martron and three other inmates of te London jail; he made a succesful bid for liberty. The three other men were re-captured yesterday when found sleeping in a farm building near Crumblin; but Harlton and Martron are still at large. ABOVE is shown a general view of the London jail and prison yard and BELOW is a diagram showing how the quintet made their sortie after Martron had felled a turnkey and the others with his aid had knocked a second one unconscious. In the oval is shown the bake shop at Lambeth which was robbed shortly after the escape; and money and food being taken. It is believed the two missing desperadoes are responsible.
